# Correctional Officer **Certificate** · 24 Weeks The Correctional Officer program at Atlantic Police Academy prepares students to monitor, supervise, and interact with incarcerated offenders in federal or provincial correctional facilities. Students develop skills in inmate supervision, conflict de-escalation, effective communication, and control tactics. The curriculum covers Canadian corrections law, crisis management, direct supervision housing unit management, defensive driving, and fitness. Students complete on-the-job training and must pass the Correctional Officer Physical Abilities Test (COPAT).
